David Browne, who leads the Praise Band, has produced his own CD! It's called "A Place I Go" and is full of original Christian songs he has written, recorded and produced. After Hurricane Irene's damage, this day has been set aside as "Help Your Neighbor Day" in Jesus' Name. Look around where you live, find someone who needs help, and help them in the Name of Jesus. It's that simple.

The baby shower for Sarah Allen Williams and Jimmy Williams has been postponed as well.

All normal activities will resume after Aug. 28.

]]> 2011-03-29T00:00:00-05:00 Donations Accepted as Church Prepares Japan Response http://www.nrccog.org/n/donations_accepted_as_church_prepares_japan_response.html http://www.nrccog.org/n/donations_accepted_as_church_prepares_japan_response.html  In anticipation of the urgent need for funding to assist in the relief and recovery effort in Japan following the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami, the Disaster Relief Committee of Church of God Ministries has established a disaster relief fund for Japan. Churches and individuals can now make donations in support of the relief effort that will help to alleviate the suffering and assist the Japanese people in recovering from this tragic event.

The Disaster Relief Committee is coordinating with the Remi, the governing body of the Church of God in Japan, and Satoru Konemoto, the national leader, in an effort to develop a response plan. Don Armstrong, the regional coordinator for Global Missions in the Asia–Pacific region is assisting in the collaboration and acting as liaison between the Disaster Relief Committee and the Remi.

The Church of God presence in Japan began in 1908. Today, we have ten missionary families serving there in addition to the sixteen Japanese congregations. The work of the Church of God in Japan is located in Tokyo and areas south of the capital city. The epicenter for the earthquake was located about 250 miles northeast of Tokyo. Early reports received indicate that none of our congregations was affected by the incident; all missionaries are safe and secure.

While the initial details of the magnitude of the devastation are daunting, the relief effort does provide an opportunity for God’s children to respond in love to those in critical need. More information will be released as the decisions on how the church can best respond to this tragedy are finalized. In the interim, please pray for those affected by this situation.

Many congregations and individuals have contacted CGM asking how they can help. In addition to prayer, it is anticipated there will be a critical need for donations to support the relief effort. Immediate donations to the Disaster Relief Fund-Japan can be made online by clicking here. Or checks can be mailed to Church of God Ministries, PO Box 2420, Anderson, IN 46018-2420. Please write Project 45.04508 in the memo line.

One hundred percent of all donations received will support disaster relief.
